The Central Florida Offshore Anglers (CFOA) and Florida Sport Fishing Association (FSFA) are collecting funds on behalf of the Space Coast Artificial Reef Advisory Board (SCARAB) for the creation of a nearshore artificial reef in the Atlantic Ocean within Florida State waters approximately 2.5 miles off of Cocoa Beach Pier. This Brevard County nearshore reef will be easily accessible by smaller boats, and a place where snapper, grouper, flounder and other reef fish could thrive. This nearshore reef will fall within the State of Florida FWC fishing regulations.
Donations from this fundraiser are necessary to show sufficient public interest to justify the approvals and matching funds from the State and Federal regulators.
The CFOA Marine Foundation, a 501(c)3 charitable foundation, established this charity fundraiser for a nearshore reef to enhance the local marine ecosystem. The required donations are needed for:
- Bottom survey of the area
- State and Federal permits
- Reef materials costs
- Reef site deployment costs
All funds received from this charity will be used exclusively for this Space Coast 2.5 Mile Reef project. Any excess donations will be used for future Brevard County SCARAB artificial reef projects. Please donate and help make this nearshore artificial reef system a reality.
